How A Blank Page Can Change a Life

So crisp and white

approachable and bright

looking back at me

as if you can see

the possibilities that are here

if I’d pick up my pen without fear

and jot, jot, jot

take my best shot

at what you could become

if I dropped one breadcrumb

that began a story

in an ink-filled laboratory

you could be inspirational

you could be motivational

you could be conversational

you could be sensational

if I’d just pick up that pen

and dump the thoughts and then

you would fill with feelings

and words of healing

words of logic

and iconic phonics

if I’d just pick up that pen

I could inspire and then

one pair of eyes

that may gaze upon your lines

might take off her disguise

and finally realize

that one blank page

can get rid of the rage

one blank page

has the power to amaze

that in one blank page

you can find a sage

who can change your direction

or your mind or connection

with who you really are

your true value as a star

everyone of us has in us

the ability to create us

we are the authors of our lives

we are the ones who daily drive

responsible that we arrive

stay alive and don’t deprive

we are the masters of ourselves

and yet sometimes need to delve

deeper into our beliefs

are we honest or are we a thief

of our true calling and ability

shirking “can do” for volatility

we sometimes need that scout

who can see what we only doubt

who can appear on a blank page

if they’d only pick up a pen and engage
